This year’s book selection is I am Malala, an inspirational autobiography about Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, who was shot by the Taliban for standing up for girls’ education. Malala is the inspiration and leader of the Malala Fund, which works to support girls’ education projects in areas of the world where it is vulnerable. The book details Malala’s life and experiences, which involve such important topics as the global education of women, religion, gender and human rights.
The book is available at both the Beloit and Hedberg public libraries. It is a current title for the Book Club in a Bag program at the Hedberg Public Library. This story is available in formats for a wide range of ages, including a young reader’s version and a book for even younger readers called Malala, A Brave Girl from Pakistan.
